Ingleburn grew up around a railway line, a creek and an army camp, and its houses show it. There are older brick and fibro homes on quarter-acre lots, newer townhouses squeezed onto old blocks and a working industrial area on the other side of the tracks. WM Painting & Decorating is licensed and insured, with over 10 years of painting and decorating experience, and in Ingleburn the first job is working out what the walls are made of.

The NSW State Heritage Register records the Ingleburn Military Heritage Precinct and Mont St Quentin Oval as the first purpose-built Australian Army training camp for the Second World War. The camp was established in 1939, received its first recruits on 1 November 1939, and the listing was gazetted on 15 March 2013. Surviving elements include the entry gates and sentry boxes, a guard house, three P1 huts and the oval, an early parade ground.
We do not paint the precinct, which is a State-listed site, but it explains a lot about the suburb. A large camp and later National Service training put a lot of people through the area, and it is fair to expect the suburb’s early housing and shops grew up around that traffic.
The NSW War Memorials Register says the camp trained soldiers for the Second World War and that units bound for Korea, Malaya and Vietnam also assembled there. It records the Ingleburn Memorial Wall, dedicated on 5 August 2001, and notes that the camp closed in 2000.
That history is a reason to treat heritage-feeling buildings with care. If your property includes an old hall, hut or club building from the camp era, tell us at the quote stage. We match original colours where possible, and we avoid sanding or scraping methods that would damage original timber. The same goes for club halls, churches and community buildings around the suburb: we photograph the existing scheme, check it with the committee or owner and keep a record of the colours so the next repaint is easier.
Suburban houses built in the decades after the war often use fibro sheeting, weatherboard or brick, with timber windows and sometimes a tin or tile roof. Older Ingleburn streets include homes like these, often extended over the years.
Fibro sheets installed before the mid-1980s can contain asbestos. We do not sand, scrape or pressure-wash fibro unless it has been tested, and we only seal and paint it when the surface is intact. If the sheets are damaged, we tell you straight away and recommend a licensed asbestos assessor. Intact fibro takes paint well, provided the preparation is gentle and the joint strips and corners are sealed properly.
The NSW Government’s LeadSmart advice says lead paint was used in most Australian homes built before 1970, and recommends wet sanding or scraping, sealing off the work area and using a HEPA vacuum to clean up. It also says paint in good condition can be painted over.
Homes from the camp era fall inside that window. We test old paint where there is any doubt, plan the preparation to keep dust down and explain what we are doing to the household before the first scrape. Interior ceilings and cornices get the same care as walls, since they often carry the oldest paint in the house.
Ingleburn also has an industrial area with workshops, warehouses and trade counters. These buildings take hits that homes do not: forklift knocks, truck-bay splashes, grease on walls and constant hand contact near doorways.
Our commercial painting work here uses tough, washable coatings for office fit-outs and amenity areas, and masonry or metal systems for exterior walls, roller doors and bollards. We schedule around deliveries and shifts, mask machinery and sign off one area at a time so the business keeps running.
Ingleburn sits near Bunbury Curran Creek, and low-lying blocks near waterways can carry more moisture, mould and ground-level damp. If your property has had water in the garage or around the foundations, tell us. We will check for rising damp, treat mould and make sure the wall is dry before we apply any new coat.
On roofs, our roof painting and spraying work cleans moss and lichen, repairs cracked pointing or flashing and recoats concrete tiles. We check the gutters and downpipes at the same visit, because overflow stains the fascia and eaves you have just repainted.
Post-war houses often have timber window frames, front doors and weatherboard gables that have been painted many times. Paint thickness builds up in the corners and windows stick shut. We strip back to a sound surface where the film has failed, repair soft timber with filler or replacement pieces and then prime and recoat.
Sills and door bottoms get extra attention because they wet and dry every day. A good coat on those surfaces buys years, while a quick brush-over on loose paint lasts a season. We explain which one each part of your house needs before you decide.
Townhouses, duplexes and renovated cottages are part of the mix here, and owners and investors often want a quick, clean turnaround. We repaint interiors in a consistent colour with durable washable paint, patch dents and nail holes, and finish the doors, skirtings and window frames so the whole job looks new.
For owners deciding between colours, a colour consultation can save an expensive mistake. Our interior painting crews also work to a booking schedule that fits between tenancies.
We also paint across the wider south-west. See our pages for Campbelltown, Leppington, Mt Annan and, for brick bungalows of a similar age near the Georges River, Sutherland. Comparing the pages can help you decide what to ask your painter, even if you end up choosing someone else.
